The origins of PlayQuest Recreation begins in 1994, when a small company called Parks N Rec Plus provided playground installation services to many different playground equipment sales companies in Alberta.
In 1997, Derek, who is one of the current owners, began studies at the University of Alberta in the field of engineering, and spent summers running a small crew and installing playground equipment.
When he completed his university studies in 2004, he took a risk and purchased the small company. The new company was renamed Questic Contracting Ltd. Due to the reputation of providing quality services Questic quickly grew into a company that was building many projects, covering a wide range of recreational equipment and site construction.
In 2006 Questic grew again and brought on two more owners and added additional staff to handle the growing construction activity. In 2010 the company again expanded, adding a second office with staff in Manitoba and started providing the design and sales of playground and spray park equipment in the two provinces. As the exclusive distributor for most of our products in western Canada we wanted our name to better reflect what we do so the name of the company was changed to PlayQuest Recreation.
PlayQuest has continued to grow since then and currently supplies park and recreation products from British Columbia to western Ontario as well as our Northern Territories with local offices and staff in each province. PlayQuest continues to be family owned by Derek Giesbrecht and his brother Curtis Giesbrecht who are both professional engineers and work to bring a level of skill and professionalism that hasn’t been typically seen in the recreational industry where we operate.

This team approach is at the core of our success, allowing us to provide a consistent and high-quality product to our valued customers.
