Bring harmony to your community! Successfully designed outdoor public spaces are inclusive of the many groups living in the community and create social places for everyone to meet and participate. Here at PlayQuest, we know the value of open space lies in its opportunities for social interaction and inclusion among all ages and demographics.
Beyond the schoolyard, we have been working on playgrounds and play areas that are popping up in downtown locations, street markets, shopping districts, community centres, parks, and neighbourhood spaces. Creating destinations for accessible and intergenerational play is vital! We especially enjoy adding outdoor musical instruments, such as beautiful pieces from Percussion Play, and see how they bring about opportunities for parents, grandparents, and other community members to share an activity with children. People can explore their curiosity and teach musical skills or learn together while developing a range of motor and cognitive skills. Exploring the instruments can instigate conversations around several subjects, including language, culture, colour, and numbers.
Break out in a jam! With their unusual shapes and wonderful sounds, outdoor musical instruments spark connection and creativity. They are easy to install without requiring too much space or safety surfacing. Not only are they fun, but they also bring educational and therapeutic value to public space. People are brought together in unexpected ways, fostering an exchange between the player and the passers-by. Individuals can truly express themselves while interacting with each other through the power of music.
